Spot

This weekend Julianne is babysitting a goldfish. She's concerned that the fish will not last through the weekend. I wasn't too worried ...if anything happened we could easily replace it! Until I looked to see why the fish's name is SPOT. It has a little black spot on one of its fins. Would it be easy to find another one with the same spot in the same location? I don't know!! Come on Spot, we're pulling for you. Don't let your new surroundings depress you into .... into not eating or whatever happens to goldfish before you find them floating on the top of the water.

Our Pets

We have a dog. She's old now. She's white and sheds alot. We kept the name she had when we got her, Taffy. Everyone who sees her is amazed and says that she looks like she's smiling (and even laughing at times). She's a mutt. She has a medium sized body and small (not short) but small legs and a small head. I think her head looks like the seat on a ten speed bike.

We had two rabbits, Deione and Fudge. Fudge had a baby once. We only saw it one time. They were living in our backyard. Fudge had gone under our shed to have her baby (we didn't even know she was expecting). We didn't know she was a she. Julianne was outside playing and saw a very small rabbit running around. She yelled. We ran out and got to see the little baby rabbit run back under the shed. Deione outlived Fudge. In the end our dog got ahold of Deione and that was ... well, that was the end of Deione.

Advent Brunch

Today we had our second annual Advent Brunch. My mom and I host it for all the gals and the kids in our family. We serve up a scrumptious meal, have an advent devotion and then do some projects with the kiddos.

This year the projects were: making Christmas cards (to hand out when we go caroling), painting ornaments for their trees, and frosting & decorating a gingerbread man to eat (it's really a sugar cookie man).

We were amazed to see how enthusiastic the kids were about making the cards; even the boys! Magnificient works of art!

Right before the moms and kids leave we pass out an advent calendar and a container full of goodies for them to take home. The moms let their kids pick out something each day after they open a door on the advent calendar.

This was the second annual brunch, but I had to miss the first one! I was sick.

All good things come from the LORD

Yesterday in Julianne's Musical Theater class, her teacher asked her to be her personal assistant. She said that Julianne had the experience and maturity to manage the class if she, the teacher, needed her to at any time.

Julianne was thrilled! She dreams of persuing a music major.

God is at work and we know that ALL GOOD THINGS come from Him.

Couldn't fall asleep last night. I'll try again later this morning.

Bob isn't feeling well. Started feeling ill Saturday night. He stayed home from church yesterday, but he's getting ready for work today. He doesn't have benefits at his job. No sick pay. Hope it's not the flu. He said he just feels "blah."

Julianne has pneumonia. She finished the antibiotic. She's hardly let the cough stop her from doing anything she would normally do.

Saturday, October 3, 2009

Julianne is going to a "Pride and Prejudice Ball" next weekend. She wanted to wear a dress from that time period.

Unfortunately, I don't sew. Fortunately she is in a drama group that allows their members to borrow costumes!!

Unfortunately we had to look through racks and racks of dresses (not marked with sizes). Fortunately the costumes are divided by eras and themes.

We were down in that basement for at least 90 minutes. Fortunately it wasn't mid summer.

What Line of Work Are We In?

Bob has hung drywall for over 30 years. He is awesome at what he does, if I do say so myself. He currently works for a company that remodels Subway sandwich shops. It is in the franchise contract that they must remodel every 7 years. Since going to work for this company he does just about everything.

I have been fortuante to not have to work for the last 16 years. There was a time where I founded a non-profit organization (with two friends). We organized and held the largest used curriculum and book fair in the state of Arizona for 10 years. We also self published a monthly newsletter in which I wrote a column about my life as a homeschooling mom. I was a speaker at workshops around the valley. The name of the organization was "The Salt Seller" and we ministered to the homeschool community in Arizona.

Prior jobs for me include: banking, Tupperware dealer and manager, childcare worker, phone solicitor, US Census and my very first one ... Dairy Queen!

How Is Bob?

For those of you who were at the Amos Reunion July 2008, you know that Bob was suffering with some strange swallowing problem. He is able to eat anything and swallow normally again. He has been for a long time. Just wanted to make a point of telling you ... in case you didn't already know.

About The Time

If you're a clock watcher (or checker), I'll tell you right now that I do suffer with insomnia. There WILL be times that I will be on the computer all hours of the night (literally). Now that I've confessed, you don't have to ask if I really was on here at THAT time. I was.

Where To Begin

It would take too long to start at the beginning, so I'll just jump in ... today.

Alex is back home with us and is attending a local community college. He works part time and we see him in short snippets here and there. If I'm up in the middle of the night I can catch him asleep on the couch. That's when I kiss him on his forehead. Shh! Don't let the cat out of the bag. So far, he doesn't know.

Julianne keeps us on our toes, as she has from the day she was born, with high school life and all her commitments. I'm still homeschooling her. She does take some classes away from home too, lest you think I am some professor brain -- ha ha.
